Is there anyone within your business in a role that doesn’t match their strengths? In other words, is their personality and/ or skill set mismatched compared to what’s required for that position?
A restaurant wouldn’t hide one of the funniest, most charming personalities in the back of the restaurant washing dishes — they’d interface with customers as a bartender, host, or server.
Keep an eye out for similar mismatches within your optical staff and don’t be afraid to try someone out in a role they weren’t initially hired for. Offer to pay for certifications (if they pass) paired with salary increases should they choose to develop themselves professionally in a way that benefits your practice.
